Excited about Wine? Episode 1
I titled that... Excited about Wine Episode1; Are you sure? And the reason for the question is because it seems, to be this huge community of Wine lovers, drinkers, sellers, Enthusiasts, but when you really get down right into the convo... they have no idea THE BIG HYPE ABOUT WINE.
The understanding is totally there, and for me it certainly started that way. I didn't have a interest in wine, my first glass of Wine wasn't until I was 31 years old. And it was more because I was at a BBQ, and they had a thing called a ICE WINE. I tried it and I was curious so went to the liquor store and they gave me a simple and similar drink (which was not) and that was Moscato. I was a beer or dark liquor kinda gal, I didn't think Wine had much to offer nor did I understand the complexity of wines and its characteristics. At this point and time of my life, Wine was Moscato Peaches or Apple, Cotton Candy, and Pear the basic sweet drinks, so why get hyped about it? Especially when it's mainly marketed as a relaxing Wine Cooler you seen that mom drinking at a pool and movies be having her hanging at a book club or with her friends. Mostly TV 's be showing that expensive sparkling thing rappers drink. Regardless though it's a Moscato or that Rosé thing, and regardless of what TV marketed how Wines are used.
Of course I seen movies were people are eating with big glasses of red wines with big ass smiles with over filled brimming glasses, and food or having a celebration with a Wine and the mousse spilling from the bottle or from the glass. Think about it though... My neighborhood isn't doing that, my neighborhood didn't set up a Wine Tasting Event. My family isn't celebrating with Wine, we have Puerto Rican in our blood I didn't see my cousins bust out any Red Wine during a Quinceanera and I certainly didn't see people getting stupid drunk off of wine even in the movies, it seemed they had switched drinks or whatever like that Grey goose Vodka got the party started, Wine not so much.
Why though? Is Wine so much more of a problem matter then it is enjoyable? Im gonna leave you with this... It's 2021 and I'm 37 I'm a Wine Enthusiast training to be a Wine Connoisseur, I know from just the few years drinking tasting and learning about some grapes that this isn't going to be a 7 week course. So I'm pretty sure that when it comes to Wine people think it's super easy to learn because you become a waiter at a restaurant and you can tell the difference between a Merlot and a Zinfandel. My favorite is that managers at liquor stores find little niches that help old ladies with their Wine selection so it helps everyone. Wine is complex but it's good, it's hard but it's better then regular liquor. It goes with any time of the day and doesn't screw with your physical or mental state. Let's learn and drink wine responsibly. Until next episode Loves ❤
